Why Tho?

So, here’s the sitch. I’ve been wanting to do this for a long time. In fact, I registered my domain nearly two years ago in hopes of sharing some of my adventures in the world that is the internet. The problem was that every time I wrote something, it just didn’t feel right. I’ve always felt like I had something to say, but to be honest, I’ve never really found my voice.

I suspect that many of you have no interest or desire to know about my ridiculous adventures. For those of you who feel that way, there’s a lovely little ‘x’ in the right hand corner of this page. Now is your chance to click on it and run. And for those of you who have decided to stick around, I’m sorry/not sorry that you’ll be subject to my idiocies. I’ve always had a way of owning my truth, and this project will be no different. I am not a fitness guru with expert advice. My muffin top speaks for itself. I am not a professional lifter who can offer you tips and tricks to get that new PR. I once dropped a 140 lbs axle on my back in front of a crowd of nearly two hundred people. I’m also not a fitness babe with buns of steel and rock hard abs. That has never been a goal for me. I’m just a gal who’s found a sport that has completely changed the way I look at health and fitness, and I’m ready to share my story. Maybe someone else can relate, and they too can take their first step. Here’s what you can expect:

71393170-_ESA2433I will undoubtedly share with you updates of my training as I continue on my quest to compete Strongman. In early 2017 I randomly started competing at events around the province through our Provincial organization, CAASA. The goal was just to get more comfortable competing, so that when our local Strongman event at Quest PTS came around, performance jitters wouldn’t get the best of me. But after the first CAASA event, I was hooked! I did as many as I could this summer collecting points to ultimately qualify for Provincial and then make my way to Nationals. NATIONALS?! This winter is my first ‘off season’ and I’m already working diligently at making changes for next season! Nutrition is at the forefront. I want to reduce my body weight in order to compete more effectively. Maybe even in the LHW category instead of HW. I’m also spending more time doing basic lifts. Believe it or not, that’s never been in my training. Any time I’ve ever competed before, I’ve just trained the events. I never treated this as a sport. It was just something I did to move, and the local event was just a reason to test my strengths. I’m eager to make changes, and share my very real experience with all of you.

Coffee talk and Wonder Woman References

I like coffee. A lot. Probably too much. I’ve made big strides in reducing the amount of caffeine I have in a day, but there’s no doubt that the 8pm cup I occasionally have is just all kinds of trouble. The good news?  I’m not alone. The bad news? Some nights I get less sleep. But that’s totally fine, because I’m Wonder Woman, or at least I’m aspiring to be.20160926_143759 I’ve been asked on repeat what my obsession is with WW. To be clear, I was having conversations about the Amazon Warrior Princess far before the release of the latest films. As time went on, people started to identify me with the character. I didn’t even need to buy the novelties, folks just started gifting them to me. Notebooks, cups, mugs. I was even gifted a lifting belt and nightgown. Oh, and by the way, being gifted random things not on birthdays or special occasions is the best. Seriously. There’s no better feeling that someone getting you something just because they thought of you. Big or small, the token is guaranteed to put a smile on their face. Connexions, Reviews and Real Talk

Connexionista isn’t just a fun name, it’s who I am down to the core. If there’s an opportunity for me to connect you to the people, places and things that make me happy in my heart, I will! Oh, and when it comes to real talk, I’m the Queen. I know my truth and I’m not one to sugar coat things. My mum has always said that I can’t hide anything behind my expressive green eyes. That they speak volumes, and good, bad or ugly, they tell the story. Perhaps I’ll need to record a few videos in my future so you can properly appreciate my entertaining facial expressions. I guess time will tell!

I barely have time to blow dry my hair, let alone send you updates on the daily. But I will make a point of it to share something at least once a week.
